Black Forest Local destinations, sights and Places to visit

The Black Forest, the southwest mountain range situated in Baden-Württemberg, has to offer many local attractions. Dense spruce forests populate the hilly landscape and also bogs, lakes and gorges offer hikers amazing excursions.

The highest peak in the black forest (1493 m above sea level. NN) is the Feldberg. The mountain is accessible by hikers and mountain bikers managed by a lot of mountain huts and numerous hiking trails. The region Feldberg offers winter sports enthusiasts a total of 14 lifts and an extensive trail network. From 1284 m high Schauinsland at Freiburg you have a lovely view over the Vosges, the Hornisgrinde up in the Alps.

Major natural lakes, glacial origin in the southern Black Forest include the Titisee and Feldsee. During the Titisee holds numerous water sports including swimming, surfing, sailing and diving, so for reasons of nature conservation in Feldsee there a general prohibition on bathing and the lake is only accessible by walking and cycling paths. A walk on the trail around the largely untouched in the northern Black Forest located Mummelsee offers a special holiday adventure. In every season, an impressive excursion is to the 160m high Mountain waterfall, which are among the highest and most famous waterfalls in Germany. The falls are surrounded by well-maintained hiking trails that you have beautiful views of the water.

A popular urban destination is the spa town of Baden-Baden. There is the modern Caracalla Spa, visiting the historic Friedrichsbad and Roman Bath Ruins. Other attractions are the Kurhaus, the art water plant paradise, the Pump Room, the Castle and the New Castle Hohenbaden.

The Open Air Museum in Gutach allows its visitors with the original reconstructed Black Forest houses a glimpse into the lives of people living and working in the Black Forest in the last centuries. Other places of interest are the German Clock Museum in Furtwangen and the Black Forest costume Museum in Haslach.

A trip to the Black Forest to be crowned by the enjoyment of the local specialties, such as the Black Forest cake, the Black Forest ham and Black Forest Kirsch. A cuckoo clock as a souvenir tour keeps the holiday in the Black Forest for a long time in good memory.
