Roman Route Neckar-Alb-Aare Local destinations, sights and Places to visit
For people with an interest in Roman history, the Roman Route Neckar-Alb-Aare
is a fascinating journey of discovery, following old Roman roads depicted on the ancient Tabula Peutingeriana road map. As in Roman times it links the legion camp at Vindonissa (Windisch in Switzerland) with the settlement of Grinario (Köngen in Germany).
Archaeological sites and museums convey a comprehensive picture of Roman culture, Roman festivals taking part show everyday life during this period.
The magnificent countryside on both sides of the route from the river Neckar and the Swabian Alb to the Upper Rhine, Lake Constance and the northern part of Switzerland has also plenty to offer.
